Wind FAQ's
1) What is Wind Energy? +

Wind energy is created by putting large efficient wind turbines in areas where there is a high potential for continuous winds.

Although wind turbines can be used to power mechanical tasks such as pumps or mixers, in Alberta wind power is primarily used for energy production which gets sold into the power grid. It is said that Wind turbines help to reduce Alberta's dependence on foreign fossil fuel.

2) How big is a wind turbine? +

Wind turbines range in height from 180 feet to 300 feet high. The blades are usually around 100 feet long, so at the top its arc, a blade tip could be more that 400 feet in the air.

3) Will my property taxes increase if I have a turbine on my property? +

It is possible that installing a wind turbine may increase the property values because of the added value that is created by the lease payments (just as oil wells do). We can help by adding in clauses into the lease that will help both parties share these additional costs.
